Lycamobile SIM cards now available at WHSmith Travel locations at six key British airports
Travellers can buy and activate Lycamobile plans at the airport within seconds
[London] [19 Oct 2020]: Lycamobile, the world’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and part of the multinational Lyca Group, is proud to announce that it has partnered with Sim Local and WHSmith to help international travellers access high-quality mobile plans at airports across the UK, including: London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Luton, Birmingham and Manchester.
Connectivity for international travellers is more essential than ever before. The new partnership will ensure that every customer has access to the best mobile plans and services the moment they land, without disruption to travel plans.
Through Sim Local’s innovative technology platform UNITE, Lycamobile’s customers can buy, activate and directly top up SIM cards at the point of sale, in a matter of seconds – replacing a process that usually takes more than five minutes – reducing time and stress at the airport.
The decision to launch at WHSmith Travel locations across the UK follows a highly successful year for Lycamobile, with the company most recently winning the “Most Successful MVNO” award at the globally renowned MVNO’s World Congress.
Allirajah Subaskaran, Chairman and Founder of the Lyca Group said:
“At Lycamobile, we’re constantly looking for new ways to serve our valued customers. As it becomes easier for people to travel internationally, we want to make sure they can access the same high-quality mobile services they’ve come to expect from Lycamobile wherever they are in the world.
“By partnering with Sim Local and WHSmith, our customers can buy and activate plans much more quickly, so they can spend less time waiting at the airport and get on with their trip.”
Killian Whelan, Chief Executive Officer of Sim Local, said:
“We’re proud to partner with Lycamobile, bringing the world’s biggest MVNO to the most advanced international travel platform for direct SIM top up. Together we will help ensure that travellers can stay seamlessly connected when visiting the UK.”
Lycamobile plans to roll out its partnership with Sim Local to airports across the UK over the next two years.
