Accessibility Statement

Pursuant to the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882)

1. Scope and Who This Applies To

Sim Local serves customers around the world through our website, simlocal.com. This accessibility statement applies to the digital content available on the Sim Local website, regardless of where our users are located.

For users in the European Union (EU), this statement is also intended to meet the transparency and information requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive (EU) 2019/882), which sets mandatory accessibility requirements for certain products and services placed on the EU market.

2. Our Commitment

Sim Local is committed to providing a digital experience that is accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technologies.

We are working to:

  • Make our website easier to perceive, operate, understand, and use for everyone.
  • Align our digital experiences with internationally recognised accessibility standards.
  • Continuously identify and fix accessibility barriers as our products evolve.

3. Standards We Use

Our primary benchmark for web accessibility is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines are widely recognised as the global standard for accessible web content.

We are also monitoring and gradually adopting relevant criteria from WCAG 2.2, which builds on WCAG 2.1 and introduces additional success criteria for users with low vision, cognitive and learning disabilities, and people using touch devices.

For users in the EU, we design and assess our website with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) in mind, which requires certain digital services offered in the EU to meet defined accessibility requirements.

4. Current Compliance Status

Sim Local’s website is currently partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Our assessment is based on automated testing, manual reviews, and testing with assistive technologies.

While many parts of the website work well for most users, we know there are areas that still need improvement. We are actively working to address these issues and are committed to making the website more accessible over time.

5. Using Our Website

5.1 Adjusting Text Size and Zoom

You can use your browser’s zoom function to make text and images larger or smaller:

On Windows (PC):

  • Press Ctrl + + to zoom in
  • Press Ctrl + – to zoom out
  • Press Ctrl + 0 to reset to default

On macOS (Mac):

  • Press Cmd + + to zoom in
  • Press Cmd + – to zoom out
  • Press Cmd + 0 to reset to default

Most browsers also allow you to set a default zoom level or text size in their settings.

5.2 Browser Accessibility Features

Modern browsers include features that can help with accessibility, such as:

  • Increasing text size
  • Changing fonts and colours
  • Adjusting contrast
  • Enabling “reader” or “reading” mode
  • Using extensions or plug-ins for accessibility

You can find these options in the settings or preferences of: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. For further guidance, the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) provides resources on how to customise your technology and better understand accessibility features.

5.3 Assistive Technologies

Our website is designed to work with a range of assistive technologies, including:

  • Screen readers
  • Screen magnifiers
  • Speech recognition tools
  • Keyboard-only navigation

We are continuing to test with these tools and refine our implementation.

6. Known Accessibility Issues (Non-Accessible or Partially Accessible Content)

We recognise that our site is not yet fully accessible in all areas. Below is an overview of key issues we are aware of and are actively working to improve.

6.1 Images and Media

Some issues may include:

  • Certain images missing descriptive alternative text or using generic descriptions.
  • Decorative images not always correctly marked so they can be ignored by screen readers.
  • Some video or rich media without complete captions, transcripts, or audio description.
  • Icon-only buttons or links that are not clearly labelled for assistive technologies.
  • Some media players or embedded content that are not fully keyboard accessible.

6.2 Navigation and Structure

There may be cases where:

  • Not all interactive elements are reachable or usable via keyboard alone.
  • Focus indicators are missing or not visually clear in some components.
  • Heading structure or semantic HTML is inconsistent, which can affect screen reader navigation.
  • A “skip to main content” link is not present or not functioning on some pages.

6.3 Forms and Checkout

Some form experiences may not yet fully meet accessibility standards, including:

  • Form fields without appropriately associated labels or accessible names.
  • Error messages that are not clearly connected to the relevant field.
  • Required fields not always clearly indicated to assistive technologies.
  • Dynamic steps in the checkout process that may not be fully announced to screen readers.

6.4 Colour and Contrast

In some areas:

  • Text may not yet meet recommended contrast ratios against its background.
  • Information is occasionally communicated by colour alone (for example, red vs. green without a text label).

6.5 Responsive Design and Zoom

Under certain conditions (for example, very high zoom levels or some device orientations):

  • Horizontal scrolling may be required on some pages or components.

6.6 Dynamic Content and ARIA

For some interactive or dynamically updating content:

  • Updates may not always be announced to assistive technologies.
  • ARIA roles, states, or properties may be used inconsistently or not at all.

6.7 Third-Party Content

Our website integrates services provided by third parties (such as payment providers, maps, or embedded widgets). In some cases:

  • These third-party components may not fully meet the same accessibility standards.
  • We may not be able to control all aspects of their design or code.

Nevertheless, we aim to select third parties that are committed to accessibility and to raise issues with them where we identify problems.

6.8 Timing and Sessions

In some flows:

  • Sessions may expire without adequate warning or options to extend, which can present barriers for some users.

7. Our Accessibility Improvement Programme

We treat accessibility as an ongoing improvement process. Our current priorities include:

  • Updating templates and design components to improve colour contrast and focus visibility.
  • Adding or reviewing alternative text for images.
  • Enhancing keyboard navigation and “skip to content” options.
  • Improving forms and error handling for assistive technology users.
  • Working with partners and vendors to address accessibility of third-party tools.
  • Expanding testing with different assistive technologies and on different devices.

We expect to make steady progress on these areas over the coming months, and we will update this statement to reflect significant improvements or changes.

8. Preparation of This Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement was initially prepared on 26 June 2025 and was most recently reviewed on 3 November 2025.

The statement is based on:

  • A review of representative pages and templates on simlocal.com
  • Automated accessibility testing tools
  • Manual testing, including testing with at least one screen reader
  • Internal expert assessment against WCAG 2.1 Level AA and relevant parts of WCAG 2.2

We will continue to review and update this statement regularly, and at least annually, as we improve our website.

9. Feedback and Contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the Sim Local website from users everywhere.

If you:

  • Encounter a barrier that prevents you from using our website.
  • Need information in an alternative format (for example, large print, accessible PDF, or audio).
  • Have suggestions for improving accessibility.

Please contact us:

We aim to respond to accessibility-related enquiries within 5 business days.

When you contact us, it is helpful if you can include:

  • The page or feature you were using.
  • What you were trying to do.
  • The device, browser, and (if relevant) assistive technology you were using.

This helps us reproduce and resolve the issue more quickly.

10. Enforcement Procedure (EU Requirement)

If you are located in the European Union and are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility feedback or request, you may have the right to escalate the matter to your national enforcement body under the European Accessibility Act.

For users in Ireland, the relevant body is the National Disability Authority (NDA), which advises on accessibility requirements and supports enforcement in relation to the EAA.

  • Website: nda.ie
  • Phone: +353 1 608 0400

Users in other EU Member States can find details of their national enforcement body via their national government or relevant disability authority.

11. Disproportionate Burden

At this time, Sim Local has not declared any part of the website exempt from accessibility requirements on the basis of “disproportionate burden” under the European Accessibility Act.

If, in future, we identify specific aspects where full compliance would impose a disproportionate burden, we will:

  • Document the reasons.
  • Explain which parts of the service are affected.
  • Record this clearly in this section of the statement, in line with Article 14 of Directive (EU) 2019/882.

12. Declaration of Conformity

Our website has been assessed using a combination of automated tools, manual checks, and testing with assistive technologies.

A formal Declaration of Conformity with the relevant accessibility requirements of the European Accessibility Act can be made available upon request. Please contact us at if you require this document.
