Senior Product Designer, UI/UX

Product & Design | Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)

About Sim Local

Sim Local is a leading global travel eSIM provider, helping millions of travellers stay connected in over 200 destinations worldwide. Through a combination of local operator partnerships, innovative digital products, and omnichannel distribution, we deliver seamless connectivity experiences for international travellers.

We're building out an ambitious D2C roadmap across our website and mobile app, and we're looking for a Senior Product Designer, UI/UX to own the UI/UX behind it.

Role Overview

This is a senior, high-impact role — you won't just execute a backlog, you'll help define what we build, turning roadmap ideas into concepts, prototypes, and shipped experiences.

The majority of your time will be spent on new D2C journeys, with some involvement in our internal platform (Unite), and white-label store experiences as needed. This role reports to the Head of Product and Engineering, and works closely across Marketing, Commercial, and Development throughout ideation and build.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Ownership & Design Strategy

• Own end-to-end design of new D2C journeys across our website and mobile app — from concept through pixel-perfect, shipped UI

• Translate the product roadmap into concrete design initiatives, bringing your own ideas and point of view rather than just executing a spec

2. Research & Discovery

• Conduct customer research to ground new D2C concepts in real user needs and behaviour

• Build journey maps to identify friction points and opportunities across the current web and app experience

• Run competitor analysis to benchmark Sim Local against best-in-class D2C and travel-adjacent experiences

3. Concept & Prototyping

• Prototype concepts to test and validate with stakeholders before build, iterating quickly based on feedback

• Present concepts and design rationale to leadership, both async and in person

4. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner directly with the leadership team to ideate on new concepts and help shape product direction

• Align with Marketing and Commercial stakeholders to ensure designs support business and conversion goals

5. Development Partnership

• Work closely with the development team throughout the build to ensure designs are implemented accurately

• Stay embedded through QA and launch so the shipped experience matches the design intent

6. Design Craft & Systems

• Maintain and evolve design patterns and component libraries in Figma for consistency across web and app

• Champion consistency and craft across the D2C experience as it scales

7. Internal Platform & White-Label Support

• Contribute to the UI/UX of our internal Unite platform and white-label store experiences, applying the same standard of craft as our core D2C products

• Balance D2C priorities with occasional B2B and internal platform design needs as they arise

What We're Looking For

Essential — All Candidates

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer / UI/UX Designer, with a portfolio required showing end-to-end ownership — concept through shipped product

• E-commerce or consumer app experience — you understand purchasing journeys and conversion-sensitive UX

• Mobile app design experience — you understand iOS and/or Android platform conventions, not just responsive web

• Proficient in Figma — wireframing, prototyping, and component libraries

• Skilled in research methods — customer research, journey mapping, and competitor analysis — to ground design decisions in evidence

• Comfortable owning ambiguity — able to turn a loosely defined roadmap item into a concrete concept without detailed specs

• Strong communicator who can present and defend design thinking to leadership and align non-design stakeholders

Desirable

• Experience working in a fast-growing or scale-up environment

• Familiarity with AI-assisted design tooling as part of your workflow

• Background in subscription, travel, or telecom/eSIM-adjacent products

Personal Qualities

• Confident presenting concepts and rationale to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

• High ownership — takes a roadmap item and runs with it end-to-end

• Detail-oriented, cares about craft and pixel-perfect execution

• Collaborative, works well embedded with developers through build

• Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

This is a senior seat with real influence — the person in this role will shape how customers experience Sim Local's D2C products at a pivotal growth stage, working directly with leadership on concepts and driving them through to launch with the development team.
