Features

Plan type: Unlimited data

Days of use: 7 days

Data: Unlimited

Local phone number: No

Calls & texts: VoIP only (Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc.)

Hotspot: Yes (up to 6 GB for duration of the plan)

Coverage: This plan is data only and runs on the KDDI network in Japan. Coverage is excellent across major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Sapporo. In more remote areas such as rural Hokkaido or mountain regions, signal strength may vary slightly.

Truly unlimited data. This plan gives you unlimited high-speed 4G/5G data on the KDDI (au) network for the full length of your plan. There is no daily data allowance and no daily cap, so your speed does not drop after a set amount of use each day.

Fair usage. Like all mobile networks, KDDI applies a fair usage policy to protect its network from misuse. It is not a daily limit and it is not triggered by normal personal use: streaming, maps, video calls and sharing your trip are all fine. It is based on very heavy usage over the previous 3 days, and even if it is applied, your speed will not drop below 1Mbps, so you stay connected.
