eSIM Vietnam

Sim Local Vietnam eSIMs run on Vietnamese networks — MobiFone and Vinaphone. Our MobiFone plans come from a direct contract with MobiFone rather than a roaming agreement, and include calls as well as data, with texts also included on the 75GB plan. Our wider Vietnam range covers smaller and shorter plans across MobiFone and Vinaphone. Our MobiFone plans run on 4G/5G, with coverage across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An and the main tourist routes.

Once you purchase your plan, you'll receive a QR code and setup instructions. You can either scan the code or use the Sim Local app to install your eSIM. The process is quick and works from anywhere.

Sim Local is an official MobiFone partner and sells MobiFone eSIM plans for Vietnam sourced directly from MobiFone rather than through a roaming partner. MobiFone is one of Vietnam's three largest mobile operators, alongside Viettel and VinaPhone. Most travel eSIM brands reach a Vietnamese network through a roaming agreement; a Sim Local MobiFone eSIM puts you on the local network itself.

For most trips, MobiFone and Viettel perform similarly. Viettel has the widest rural footprint, so it is the safer choice if you are spending significant time in remote mountain areas. MobiFone has strong 4G and 5G coverage across Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An and the main tourist routes, and generally offers better value on longer plans. If your trip is mostly cities, coast and established tourist areas, MobiFone covers you comfortably.

Yes. MobiFone provides coverage in Sapa, Ha Giang, the Mekong Delta and many other rural areas of Vietnam. Coverage and network quality vary with location and terrain, so signal can be weaker in remote mountain locations. Across cities, the coast and the main tourist routes, coverage is consistent.

Our MobiFone plans are local plans. Your phone connects directly to MobiFone's Vietnamese network under our direct contract with MobiFone, which means local speeds and Vietnamese calls included as well as data, plus texts on the 75GB plan. Our other Vietnam plans connect through partner agreements with Vietnamese networks, so you are still on a local network rather than being routed via another country.

Sim Local Vietnam eSIM plans start from small 3-day and 7-day data plans up to 30-day unlimited. Our MobiFone plans work out at roughly US$0.25 per GB for the 75GB plan and US$0.16 per GB for the 180GB plan, which is cheaper per GB than most travel eSIM providers selling Vietnam. In absolute terms that is around US$19 for 75GB over 15 days with 5GB per day at full speed, including calls and texts, and around US$29 for 180GB over 30 days with 6GB per day at full speed, including calls. Prices are shown in US dollars; you can switch currency at the top of the page, and amounts vary slightly with exchange rates. Our MobiFone plans run on 4G/5G.
